POSITION PROCESS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position reports to the Director of Operations and is directly responsible for leading, organizing and directing continuous improvement activity to enhance efficiency, lower costs and maximize asset utilization. Lead teams composed of employees and contractors to achieve established results. With the Director of Operations determine priority projects and determine resourcing requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for using process data, identify and rank process improvement opportunities which will have a positive benefit to company bottom line.
  • Works closely with new product development identifying process staffing and tools necessary to best achieve production capability will meet product specifications as it was designed for the customer; use industrial & process engineering methodologies.
  • Leads teams to execute projects.
  • Revises plans through the year as appropriate.
  • Ensures that all tracking program standards are accurate and that data collection is appropriate.
  • Ensures that corporate operations team has prompt, relevant feedback for learning and improvement through SPC, Continuous Improvement principles and new computer software technology
  • Organizes and controls projects for improvement opportunities.
  • Co-ordinates with all facility teams, suppliers and even customers to help control, minimize costs while implementing change within all facilities to help maintain high quality, value added products manufacturing at all times.
  • Works closely with company accounting & engineering teams.
  • Monitors results and facilitates timely and effective response.
  • Regularly review and revise plans for SPC, production accounting and facility training.
  • Keep all cost drivers updated and relevant for proper costing purposes.
  • Provide effective regular reporting to all facility teams, Director of Operations and various customers where applicable.
  • Aligns self with the department mission, operations team, product strategies and to company objectives.
  • Expertly provides training to team members to achieve their goals.
  • Instruct plant teams on the proper use of Statistical Process Control and proper waste identification/elimination. Provide leadership.
  • Motivates self and all facility teams.
  • Cleverly helps to solve problems while contributing to team building in a continuous improvement environment as a facilitator and/or active team member where applicable. Sets a good example with a positive attitude, good listening skills, and a tireless work ethic.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 5 years of food manufacturing experience.
  • Six sigma – Certified Black belt (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good planning and organization/work management skills.
  • Results oriented / self-starter.
  • Analytical/ math skills, Expertise in lean manufacturing and C.I. and statistics.
  • Microsoft office expertise with MS Project and Excel and recognized statistical software.
