POSITION PROCUREMENT DIRECTOR
RESPONSIBILITIES

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES – 

a) Design a process in an environment that allows for efficient and effective procurement practices with cost effectiveness, quality, speed, and flexibility as main principles

b) Optimize the efficient and effective use of procurement resources to successfully meet the cost saving initiatives of the company

c) Deliver purchase price savings through actively challenging vendor pricing revising specifications, initiating cost savings opportunities and implementing new negotiating strategies

d) Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement 

e) Be a leader and a coach to all management with Purchasing and Packaging responsibilities

f) Establish a sense of urgency to achieve procurement objectives 

g) Track Key Performance Indicators to evaluate and report performance 

h) Collect and maintain market intelligence and corporate information on suppliers, their costs and their markets 

i) Develop and deliver business plans for direct materials in conjunction with e-sourcing and manufacturing strategies.

j) Analyze supply/demand fundamentals and develop strategies that deliver against the business plan.

k) Represent Company procurement in meetings with various levels of management and contribute to process improvement strategies. Continually review new processes and Vendor base to ensure new supply opportunities exist. 

l) Actively engage in, and may serve as Gate-keeper for New Product Development projects 

m) Participate in the GFSI/FSSC22000 yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures & corrective actions.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES-

a. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Operations, Finance, Business or comparable discipline; MBA desirable  

b. Minimum of 15 years progressive responsibility in Procurement, Contract Negotiations, or Materials Management

c. Purchasing management designation (CPM)

d. Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories, and processes

e. Strong negotiation/communication skills

f. Strong Financial acumen

g. Knowledgeable in multiple computer software applications.
