POSITION MAINTENANCE MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program that will assure machinery, grounds and buildings are kept in working condition, meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance, e.g. USDA, GMP’s OSHA, environmental etc. Duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager include but are not limited to the following: Establish and maintain a Preventative Maintenance Program that will assure machinery, grounds and buildings are kept in working condition, meeting or exceeding regulatory compliance, e.g. USDA, GMP’s OSHA, environmental etc. Support Production Operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment. Manage the department budget within approved limits, monitor and recommend cost saving and standardization methods. Actively participate in the presentation, forecasting and management of the Capital Budget. Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities in conjunction with operating teams. Supervise maintenance department personnel in day-to-day operation to insure minimal downtime and costs and optimal accountability, productivity, and efficiency. Work closely with other departments such as Accounting, Engineering, Product Development and Quality Assurance in resolving maintenance related issues, installation of new equipment, capital projects and/or process improvement initiatives. Assure an accurate and effective parts inventory is maintained. Hire and develop a well-skilled maintenance staff. Establish and maintain proper employee motivation, discipline, and standards. Oversee effective computerized maintenance management system (D7i). Establish and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to regulate the maintenance function within the processing plant. Other projects and duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate degree and relevant technical certificate plus 7 – 10 years relevant experience. OR, Bachelor of Science in Operations Management, Food Science, or related technical (Engineering/Maintenance) discipline, plus 5 – 7 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a food manufacturing or similar environment strongly preferred. 3 – 5 years experience managing 5 or more employees with responsibility across multiple shifts. Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to inspire and guide individuals toward goal achievement, modifies behavior to accommodate tasks, situations, and individuals involved. Effectively manages conflict. Knowledge of thermal processing and other food processing systems, as well as SPC, CAD. Specific experience with bread and batter equipment a plus. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, especially those governing the food industry and a thorough understanding of the required support for maintaining utility function, such as various refrigeration/freezing system, boilers, HVAC, PLC controls etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of interpersonal skills. Proficient computer skills to include: Hands on knowledge of PMMS systems and the financial and maintenance planning capabilities. Specific knowledge of MP System preferred. Familiarity with CAD strongly preferred i.e. ability to open CAD drawings and make minor changes. Microsoft applications Demonstrated high level of organizational skills. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct responsibility for 20-35 exempt and/or non-exempt, maintenance support staff. Indirect responsibility for 50+ hourly maintenance employees. PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Resolves routine problems with discrepancies that arise while performing daily tasks. Manages multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritizes work accordingly. Applies basis reasoning skills and carries out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read, understand and interpret data and draw logical conclusions based on the available inputs. Applies critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems. Resolves routine problems with discrepancies that arise while performing daily tasks. Manages multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritizes work accordingly. Applies basis reasoning skills and carries out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read, understand and interpret data and draw logical conclusions based on the available inputs. Applies critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems. COMPUTER SKILLS: Uses the computer to check email and send email. (Microsoft Outlook) Utilizes several software programs to track and analyze data. Creates reports.
