To provide leadership, expertise, and continuous improvement to the Food Safety function for the Company Plant.  Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Food Safety Programs in compliance with FSSC22000 Food Safety auditing scheme.  Assure that all products processed, packaged, stored, and distributed are manufactured in compliance with all Regulatory, Customer, and Food Safety requirements.


•    Accountable for the implementation and maintenance of the risk controls for the Company Quality and Food Safety System

•    Develop and administer the Food Safety Management programs in accordance with current protocols and provisions, as defined in the FSSC22000 Food Safety Auditing Scheme
•    Facilitate and drive compliance to the  Food Safety Programs via cross-functional work teams and leadership accountability.   Communicate Food Safety Program expectations to all personnel and defined stakeholders, and provide training accordingly
•    Champion of plant's commitment to Product Quality and Food Safety
•    Participate in required employee trainings
•    Manage Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs), Operational Pre-Requisite Programs (OPRPs), and Critical Control Points (CCPs), as defined in the Food Safety Program
•    Coordinate and conduct HACCP meetings with HACCP Team
•    Verify and Validate manufacturing processes comply with regulatory requirements
•    Investigates and rectifies customer complaints regarding food safety concerns
•    Retain and maintain documentation and records associated with  Food Safety management Programs and the Food Safety Systems Certification (FSSC22000)
•    Train personnel in techniques and procedures for the Food Safety Programs
•    Responsible for the administration, execution and maintenance of the environmental programs   

    Design and implement internal audits and control internal audit documentation 
•    Provide Quality support when key Quality personnel are not on-site within the facility
•    Responsible for New Product Development Process (NPD) review to ensure food safety capability for new products
•    Participate in and occasionally lead Food Safety team in evaluating and improving operational and product quality and food safety awareness.
•    Participate in external audits
•    Champion Food Safety program cost out initiatives
•    Manage and report on key food safety issues, trends, customer/consumer complaints, and incident investigations
•    Communicate and report on key food safety performance metrics as defined by DFD leadership
•    Manage other Quality department staff
•    Develop and manage the department’s budget for food safety programs.  Generate cost savings initiatives and reduction of food safety program spend
•    Performs other duties as assigned


•    B.S. degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Business or other related science based discipline
•    Minimum 5 years experience in Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, or other technical environment
•    Supervisory experience
•    Ability to prepare/interpret statistical analysis, precision measurement, and process capabilities
•    Must understand USDA/FDA and OSAH requirements
•    Must have knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and have the ability to make sound decisions
•    Must be able to work flexible schedule to include: day, afternoon, midnight and weekends
•    Preferred competencies include:
o    Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Manager by ASQ
o    Implementation of GFSI audit scheme
o    Experience in a MDA or FDA regulated manufacturing plant
•    Inductive reasoning: The ability to combine pieces of information to form conclusions (includes a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
•    Proactive Problem Solving Approach: The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
•    Deductive reasoning: The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers
•    Multi-Task: Should be able to balance multiple projects at one time and prioritize to meet deadlines
•    Ability to train salaried and hourly employees
•    Ability to lead teams and team activities to achieve business results 
•    Advanced computer and presentation skills





COMPENSATION $60,000 - $65,000
