POSITION QUALITY SUPERVISOR
RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsibilities:

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Process Control technician associates. Accountable for the day to day management of plant production and quality operations. Ensures full compliance with all food safety and regulatory requirements. Provides technical support and service to manufacturing in support of the operations objectives.  Is a key member of the management team at the facility.  Works with Facility Plant Manager, Human Resource Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Operations Managers, Maintenance Manager, Warehouse Supervisor and the other Production Supervisors.
 
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Direct, coordinate and schedule the activities of QA personnel to proactively respond to plant production needs.
Develop and/or assist in developing quality programs and procedures as required. Maintain and administer plant quality systems, along with auditing and evaluating plant operation to ensure the production of safe and wholesome products.
Maintains systems for checking and verifying process compliance, including but not limited to SPC, HACCP, SQF, Quality Systems, and Formula Control to provide production departments with tools necessary for daily operations.
Coordinate and maintain Master Control Documents, quality data collection, charting, trending, and reporting projects.
Assures efficient and accurate testing, reporting, and monitoring of product safety and quality.
Participation in corporate-driven projects, tests, reports and data collection.
Anticipate and solve quality-related issues through evaluation of ingredients, materials, process, and finished products.
Communicate with Quality Assurance manager on a continuous basis relative to the status of quality, sanitation, and product safety in manufacturing.
Place any product of doubtful quality “on hold” pending further evaluation and consultation with Quality Assurance Manager.
Assist in the hiring, training and supervising staff as authorized.
Participate in all internal and external audits relative to the Quality Assurance Department.
Ensure laboratory operations are conducted in accordance with OSHA regulation.
Regularly participate in plant safety programs.
Assist in developing, conducting, and documenting appropriate training and Corrective Actions.
Install and participate in the inspection, testing and evaluation of raw materials in process and finished products while maintaining proper records of results.
Assist in providing a properly equipped and supplied laboratory including the standardization of instruments and make-up of reagents.
Ensure department operates within established budgetary constraints.
Assist in developing reporting systems and key performance indicators that will keep the Quality Assurance Manager apprised of performance against quality objectives. Provide technical services to management team to help resolve product and/or process-related issues.
Assist in maintaining Quality System, Consumer Complaint and GMP audit corrective action process. Assist in developing and implementing Quality Assurance Manuals. Provide technical expertise regarding GMP’s, HACCP, SQF and Quality Systems. Develop and deliver technical and quality training support to technicians.
Experience with leading Sanitation/Quality programs i.e. ATP, Environmental and Finish Goods Testing.
Provide technical assistance resources for production related activities.
Keep management informed of the status of QA issues impacting production and product deployment. Complete special projects, duties and assignments, as appropriate
 
SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES:

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Qualifications:

 
EXPERIENCE
:  

Minimum of two to three years in a food processing environment or experience with FDA/USDA.
Processing and packaging experience is a plus.
SQF and HACCP certified is preferred
FSMA and Preventative Controls experience preferred.
Demonstrated “hands on” management experience
Experience working with a diverse group of people

EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related discipline i.e., chemistry, biology or microbiology required.
