SUMMARY:  The Procurement Manager will be responsible for the strategic and tactical management of all spending on value added ingredients.  This role is responsible for managing sourcing initiatives to identify best in class suppliers, provide competitive pricing and implement effective sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.  This role will build, establish and drive the team to ensure that the supply base is capable of supporting business growth while maintaining service levels, quality and cost.


  • Responsible for the sourcing, procurement and supplier management of all Raw and Packaging Materials. Actively lead and participate in purchasing initiatives. Manage strategic partnerships between company and vendors. Responsible for the total quality, continuous improvement, costs, service and value performance of the vendors supplying our manufacturing facilities.
  • Achieves the timely ordering and releasing of items needed for plant production while managing appropriate inventory levels of all Raw and Packaging Materials
  • Produces reports relative to tracking purchasing performance
  • Develop and maintain ongoing market insight and knowledge on current on all changes associated with commodities, vendors/suppliers, market conditions, economic factors, security issues and pricing domestically and internationally.
  • Track and communicate commodity markets and outlook.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, latest estimate, and assure cost performance goals are met.
  • Assure supply needs are met so as to meet all production and customer requirements.
  • Develop strategies and build necessary relationships with suppliers to implement lower cost alternatives as well as meet all commodity quality requirements. Maintain strong supplier relationships and foster 2 way feedback to improve supplier performance.
  • Work with corporate and plant personnel to mitigate risk associated with the cost and supply of selected commodities.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of Purchasing staff, developing direct reports capabilities and capacities for future needs.
  • Actively engage and support cross functional efforts with Operations, Quality Assurance, Finance, R&D, Marketing and Sales. Included but not limited to new product development, product improvements, reformulations, changes in process, etc…
  • Negotiate major purchases, develop blanket or master agreements with suppliers, and engage in all aspects of contract management.
  • Maintain the organizations purchasing policies, procedures, standards, and strategies in order to ensure process transparency, fairness, impartiality, and confidentiality.
  • Develop and manage the proposal, bidding, and negotiation process while adhering to applicable legal standards and codes of ethical conduct
  • Evaluate overall supplier health (supplier risk assessment).
  • Review and assess total supply chain risk and identify opportunities to minimize and eliminate risk.
  • Confer with management and staff coordinating purchasing activities.
  • Develop and measure key performance indicators to determine and improve the effectiveness of the purchasing function.
  • Maintain current technical skills and apply new knowledge to management tasks for the improvement of purchasing activities.
  • Analyze purchasing related information and evaluate the results to choose the best resolution and alternatives to supply challenges.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to the purchasing function for upper management. Generate and/or review consumption reports, and demand forecasts
  • Identify, qualify, and select vendors of materials, equipment, products, or services, and conduct overall supplier management.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability and alternative sources of supply.
  • Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of associated personnel and mentor select staff.
  • Audit overall spend behaviors and verify approval process



Education:   Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent work experience in supply chain, agri-business, ag-economics, or related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sourcing or procurement                 management role with direct responsibility for supplier management and pricing/cost decisions required.  Consumer  packaged goods experience required.

COMPENSATION $80,000 - $100,000 PLUS BONUS
