POSITION MAINTENANCE TECH
RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY:

The MTL will coordinates activities of the maintenance mechanics which includes equipment and assets. This would involve preventive maintenance, modifications of equipment, supporting Maintenance Manager with R&D and installation of equipment. The position requires good communication skills and teamwork with all departments. Other responsibilities include supervising, scheduling, execution of the maintenance team and CMMS management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance techs workload and assignments based on production schedules and asset care.
  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance management.
  • Using CMMS (SAP PM) determine schedules, sequences and assignments for work activities based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
  • Track and analyze maintenance labor and parts to help determine the least cost, most efficient operation.
  • Evaluate the performance of team members and provide periodic feedback to ensure development and quality of work.

Maintenance & Repair

  • Assist with the develop and maintain plant preventative maintenance programs.
  • Manage the prioritization and staffing of preventive maintenance and repairs of all equipment.
  • Lead the Maintenance Weekly Operation Review (MWOR) process for Continuous Improvement and also escalation to resources outside of department.
  • Analyze equipment downtime with maintenance and production departments.
  • Create solutions or preventative maintenance plans to eliminate and prevent technical downtime
  • Continuous Improvement in the following KPI’s:
    • Labor Utilization
    • Schedule Compliance
    • Work Order Backlog
    • Technical Downtime
  • Plan & schedule for department and plant shutdowns and startups in corresponding departments.
  • Insure SAP is kept current for their primary areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all preventive and corrective maintenance plans are executed on time and offer a high quality of workmanship.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant to seek out potential problems and to solicit operator feedback.

Communication

  • Collaborate with operations through the Maintenance Weekly Operation Review regarding priority, action items, and follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, contractors, and plant partners to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Assures compliance with government regulatory agencies.
  • Control labor costs, hiring, scheduling, and development of maintenance partners in team-oriented environment.

JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of production maintenance.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical/industrial skills. HVAC and basic welding skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Full understanding and compliance with the company’s safety procedures and policies.
  • Basic math and measuring skills.
  • Skill in operation of company tools and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to think and react quickly, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impact on the organization.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity and cost.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • PLCs: AB, Siemens, SLC500, ControLogix, and PLC-5
  • Networks: Ethernet /IP and Remote I/O
  • Safety devices: Guard I/O, Safety relays
  • Drives: 1336, PF40, PF70, PF520,
  • Software: RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, PanelBuilder32
  • Leadership and development skills

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree in an Industrial Electrical Technical Field or Electrical Industrial or E&I Journeyman is preferred.
  • Highly skilled electrical troubleshooting of plc’s, servo’s, and safety relays for bad components or faulty wiring.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical print interpretation and mechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of switchboards, MCC’s, panel boards, control cabinets.
  • Utilize a computer (laptop/desktop) to troubleshoot and repair faulty networked components.
