POSITION PLANT ENGINEER
RESPONSIBILITIES

Plant Engineer

The Plant Engineer understands plant operations as a system consisting of suppliers, processes, and customers. They apply engineering tools and knowledge (mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, civil, environmental, and ergonomics) to develop, lead, and implement cost savings and cost prevention projects. Additionally this position uses project management skills (scope, timing, and budget) to define project expectations and deliverables, while providing technical support for existing processes and process improvement efforts.

Primary accountabilities for this position are as follows:

Develop, oversee and implement engineering projects resulting in cost reduction, improved safety, improved quality, improved efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Participate in the commercialization process, providing necessary manufacturing equipment and process changes.

Manage engineering documentation for completeness, correctness, and sound engineering discipline for any aspect of the project cycle.

Provide engineering and technical expertise in the ongoing operation and maintenance of existing equipment.

Serve as project manager in the design, selection and installation of new manufacturing equipment.

Oversee the development and execution of capital plans.

Oversee contracted services related to engineering, technical processes, and compliance.

Plan, develop, coordinate, implement and review the engineering activities.

This position is a key member of the plant leadership team and reports to the Plant Manager. This position has dotted line accountability to the Vice President of Engineering and plays a key role in assuring alignment across three food manufacturing plants . As a change agent, this position is accountable for modeling Company's values and foundational principles.

Utilize system view diagrams and PDSA as major tools to achieve desired goals and objectives Attend annual training to improve knowledge and system thinking

Develop Process Flow Diagrams to understand work group improvement opportunities.

Participates on the Plant Staff meetings and reports to the Plant Manager their weekly data to include trend analysis and Pareto analysis. Present information as well as action steps orally and written at Operations Council meetings.

Work with maintenance team on equipment reliability: Analyses of failure, recommended upgrades, and specification of components/systems (i.e. bearings, belts, drive systems and finite analysis).

Analyze, design and implement effective systems and tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel.

Ensure all safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.

Manage implications of engineering change requests and impacts to schedules and cost.

Qualifications:

4 year Engineering or related technical degree required. Preferred engineering discipline in mechanical, biosystem/agricultural, chemical, and/or electrical.

4+ years' experience in manufacturing engineering

2D Auto CAD experience or 3D Inventor Software knowledge

Strong background in Allen Bradley programming

Familiarity with PLC's( Programmable Logic Controllers) for factory automation

Experience with Ammonia Refrigeration systems

Electrical Power Distribution systems

Equipment troubleshooting and background support of processes from the plant floor

Strong project management skills

Experience as a Technical Manager within the Manufacturing sector; experience within non-union environments.

Working knowledge of plant safety and quality requirements

Working knowledge/experience with statistical tools, programs and interpretation of data.

Must be able to influence change through effective communication and direction

Ability to make presentations to various levels within the organization with clarity and direction

Computer skills within the Microsoft family and to be internet capable

Must interact with internal and external customers
