POSITION MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
RESPONSIBILITIES

OPENINGS IN TX, GA, AND CA

We operate 24 hours a day, production runs about 5 days but in busy season in can be 6 and a few 7 day weeks.  The maintenance supervisor needs to flex their schedule as needed so they have presence and interact with the teams on each shift.  Upfront learning the process it would be more hours learning the process and the team.  Once established I see the typical day being 9 – 9.5 hours and being on call when at home for the team incase equipment breaks down.  This needs to be a person who has initiative, very organized, be HANDS on, and can use a maintenance system for work orders and inventory.  We have a system in place but it is not being utilized properly at all locations.  

Salary range for this person would be 75k-85k, could go up to 90k for the perfect candidate.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This Maintenance Supervisor position is a hands-on position that will lead our Maintenance Mechanics to assure all assets and daily operations in the facility are OSHA compliant, well maintained, and running efficiently as designed at nameplate capacity.  The successful candidate will be willing to make a presence on all shifts when needed and be prepared to lend a hand repairing equipment as is necessary to support the maintenance team.  We are a family owned company and pride ourselves for developing a family culture in the workplace.  We want our leaders to take the initiative as well as be a role model for our associates.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 

• Lead, coach, supervise and share best proven safe work methods with all maintenance team members for maximum equipment uptime delivering efficient and reliable operations 24/7. 

• Conduct daily running inspections of all facility areas and equipment to ensure the safety of our people, equipment and facility.  

• Perform daily corrective and emergency work order scheduling of mechanics, assigning and delegating specific work areas to them in support of 24/7 operation. 

• Responsible for scheduling, completion, and compliance of all preventive, corrective and emergency work orders utilizing ePAC. 

• Responsible for maintaining all equipment and facility records as required and any service activities that are undertaken by the facility. 

• Lead daily and weekend maintenance scheduling of work assessments for both equipment and team members to ensure maximum asset utilization and life.  

• Member of Plant Leadership Team.

• Lead and supervise plant maintenance programs based on proven best practices in the food industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance utilizing ePAC.

• Supervise and implement the use of critical spare part inventories and maintenance supplies reordering as necessary to prevent asset downtime optimizing asset uptime. 

• 5S organize clean and repair maintenance shop layout and spare equipment.

• Maintain OSHA compliant working condition of all electrical units and systems in the facility. 

• Lead/demonstrate problem resolution, trouble-shooting leadership skills improving plant operations, eliminating maintenance-related causes of downtime, waste or inefficiency.

• Lead, develop and train maintenance technicians, so all Plant objectives are accomplished in an OSHA safe cost effective manner.

• Assist and Team with Plant Manager to hire and maintain annually planned team headcount.

• Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.

• Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.

• Lead the plant continuous improvement process. 

• To monitor and sustain OSHA compliant operation of plant equipment and systems.

• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems continually, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate, solve problems promptly, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Maintain Plant safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal laws. 

• Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.

• Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.

• Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.

• Interacts directly with QA laboratory to ensure active participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of SQF & QA policies and procedures.

• Implements programs and systems required to ensure plant cleanliness.

• Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.

• Schedule and work with outside contractors as necessary. 

• Be hands-on repairing equipment alongside maintenance technicians.

• Proactively help perform PM tasks following required frequencies. 

• Proactively help complete corrective and emergency work orders. 

• Develop a maintenance technician’s core competencies.

 

EMPLOYEE SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO

•    Follow all employee safety practices.

•    Must understand SDS (Formerly known as MSDS) sheets and the safe use of chemicals. 

•    Site owner of electrical Lock-Out Tag-Out compliance and requirements.  

•    Follow hot works policy. 

•    Wear hearing & eye protection in all areas of the plant…lead by example.  

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

•    Four-year engineering degree or eight-years of demonstrated equivalent experience. 

•    Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; plus six-years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
