POSITION CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT LEADER
RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Overview:             

The Continuous Improvement Leader is a newly created position.  The successful candidate will be charged with building capability in all employees at the plant leveraging TPM and Six Sigma toolsets to drive loss elimination and productivity improvement.  While this role has no direct reports, the individual in this role will have a lead by influence relationship with all members of the plant leadership team.  Success in the role will be measured by an ability to engage with our retained CI consultant and develop plans to address key plant losses via the use of Loss Analysis, Autonomous Maintenance, Structured Problem-Solving Processes, Preventative Maintenance and Statistical Process Control.  Over time it is expected that this individual becomes an expert on the use of these tools and processes in the plant and warehouse environment and can lead the program without external consulting support.

                               

Principal Responsibilities: 

·         Lead semi-annual/annual loss analysis activities at the plant.  Categorize losses by loss type and dollarize the size of the prize related to loss elimination

·         Help plant leaders make choices about which losses to prioritize the elimination of

·         Become an expert (with the support of 3rd party resources where needed) on the use of TPM (AM, PM, problem solving, DDS, DMS) tools to eliminate losses. 

·         Develop plans with leaders at the plant to eliminate targeted losses in their respective areas using TPM tools

·         Personally lead AM and problem solving teams while concurrently developing capability in other leaders at the site to do the same

·         Develop a simple, resilient auditing approach to ensure systems put in place to deliver results are sustained thru transitions at the site

·         Develop structured problem-solving processes for use at the site to identify and eliminate the root cause of operational problems

·         Own the 5S program at the site

·         Support the delivery of 0 TIR, 80% OE, 0 Significant Quality Incidents, Increasing Material Utilization and Flat to Declining Unit Conversion Costs at the Site

 

Experience:         

·      Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in plant operations in a complex SKU, food and/or beverage manufacturing environment (preferred), or, in another relevant consumer packaged goods company.   

·      Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a continuous improvement program in a CPG environment

·      Significant record of achievement with regard to lean manufacturing support, continuous improvement, and downtime reduction.

·      Have a clear understanding of how driving continuous improvement links the entire enterprise, including operations, finance, sales and marketing.

·      Deep understanding of TPM principles and models and significant hands on experience in leading maintenance teams.

·      Excellent project management skills.

·      Applicable systems and software knowledge.

·      Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

·      Demonstrated ability to create a culture of accountability and teamwork.

Education:            

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required and a graduate degree is a plus.
