POSITION PRODUCTION MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Job Summary: The Production Manager/Superintendent is a key member of management and will be responsible for the day to day production, quality and maintenance activities in the company. The manager will supervise all department heads and ensure production goals are being meet. This individual will assist in developing systems to ensure quality while improving plant efficiency. The manager must also be a strong leader with a high degree of ability to train and develop people. The manager will ensure that all company procedures are followed throughout all operational activities in the plant in order to support and continually improve the quality, growth and profitability of the company.

 

Essential Functions:

• Direct and coordinate production related operations within company policies and procedures

• Ensure effective operating methods to minimize operating problems and improve efficiency and quality

• Recommend modification to processes and equipment to improve efficiencies, quality and safety

• Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of production, packaging, sanitation, and maintenance.

• Assist all teams with goal-setting and tracking for all measures within the plant

• Foster and develop a trained and motivated staff

• Enable, coach and guide effective teams to solve any problems that may arise 

• Ensure sustainability of improvements by creating control plans

• Serves as a key member in recognizing and correcting safety issues and consistently practice and enforce safe work habits at all times

• Administers company policies and procedures consistently and fairly to maintain the established standards in regards to safety, quality and personnel guidelines

• Is a key driver of process improvement and problem solving using continuous improvement methods

• Maintain positive working relationships with peers, support staff and USDA

 

Job Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science, Management or Quality.

• Minimum of 4 years experience in a meat processing facility (preferably a harvest facility) as a Manager or Superintendent with multiple Supervisors reporting to the position

• Experience working directly with USDA

• Experience working in a facility certified under the GFSI such as BRC or SQF

• Must possess clear written and verbal communication skills as well as organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner

• Good time management skills and excellent attention to detail

• Ability to maintain confidential information

• Ability to coach and lead others

• Strong organizational skills

• This individual must have knowledge in production functions, general computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications
