Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Work Environment:

Must work independently with minimal supervision. This is a third shift position.
Must be flexible and able to work as needed.
 Must be able to work in temperatures of 40 degrees or less

Work Flow:

Develop, manage and monitor the sanitation processes (Cleaning Procedures, Master Sanitation Schedule, etc.) to assure food safety and quality, across all shifts of the production environment.
Collaborate with the Food Safety/Quality department on improvements to the SSOP programs.
Interpret food safety philosophy to key personnel in the organization.
Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during sanitation activities.
Review and verify daily sanitation paperwork for two plant facilities.
Provide detailed direction for scheduling and completion of internal facility audits.
Present (and in some cases prepare) programs to maintain training of all sanitation employees in policies and programs such as GMPs, HACCP, SSOP’s, and company Allergen Policy.
Review all data obtained during all sanitation activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures, and to continually improve the sanitation program.
Keep management abreast of significant issues or developments identified during sanitation activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
Train Sanitation personnel to perform in-plant process inspections and internal audits as required by established plant auditing programs.
Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry sanitation codes and standards.
Establish an active role in plant sanitation improvement within the organization.
Design and implement sanitation training programs to key personnel in conjunction with other plant based management.
Investigate and provide timely follow-up for customer complaints regarding sanitation concerns or deficiencies.
Ability to interpret lab results/data as it relates to sanitation testing requirements.
Regularly interface with USDA IIC when needed to maintain positive communication between regulatory and plant personnel.

In the event that the person in this position is absent, he/she will be replaced by a person properly trained to perform such duties.


Education and/or Experience:

Ability to legally work in the United States is required.
Requires a Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable meat plant sanitation experience; or a high school diploma and 10 – 14 years of applicable meat plant sanitation experience.
Requires strong meat and poultry processing experience and knowledge of USDA regulations regarding food manufacturing including; HACCP, GMPs, Allergens, SSOP’s, Recall/Withdrawal. 
Previous experience with plant audits/inspections including third party, city, state and federal is required.

COMPENSATION $75,000 - $90,000
