POSITION QUALITY MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES

 

-          Proven ability to revamp and organize teams
-          Dairy and sanitation exp. Is a plus
-          Proven ability to build and cultivate relationships with vendors  and inspectors
-          Must have retail background/ product knowledge.
-          Proven ability to communicate effectively
-          Position will have dotted line reporting relationship to plant manager, with direct reporting relationship to regional QA Manager.     


                                    
I. Purpose of the Job                                     
                                    
Plans, coordinates and directs the quality assurance program designed to ensure that the plant and finished products conform to all customer, federal and state regulatory requirements, as well as, implements and maintains Corporate Quality Assurance polices and procedures.  The incumbent also facilitates the quality improvement program and serves as the plant liaison in dealings with regulatory agencies and client companies.                                    
                                    
                                  
                                    
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities                             
1.    · Provides direct support, leadership and direction to QA staff. · Provides direct supervision to subordinates, including making hiring/firing decisions, providing training and development opportunities, and conducting performance reviews and coaching sessions·                                                
                                    
2.    · Maintains and improves product quality by completing product and compliance audits, investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to resolve product issues.                          
                                    
                                    
3.    Maintains the food safety aspect of the plant by periodically performing internal audits of the facility to verify that procedures mandated by the company, state and Federal governmental agencies are being adhered to.  This includes GMPs, Sanitation, HACCP, and Safety                       
                                    
                                    
4.    · Acts as plant liaison in dealings with regulatory agencies and client company representatives and auditors. Coordinates all research and development testing. · Reviews and maintains all required processing records and regulatory inspections and reports                        
                                    
                                    
5.    · Maintains all aspects of the Quality Control Laboratory, including microbiological, chemical, physical and sensory aspects of all food products manufactured at this facility. This also includes coordination of the sampling and testing with Production.                            
                                    
                                    
6.    · Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analysis identifying critical control points and preventative measures, establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions and verification procedures.                       
                                    
                                    
7.    · Oversees the Pest Control program in the facility through coordination with contracted pest control service representatives                       
                                    
                                    
8.    · Develops, updates and implements the plant HACCP program and directs the cross-functional Food Safety Committee, including regular plant audits and monthly committee meetings. · Ensures that plant personnel is properly trained on a regular basis and that training is effective                         
                                    
                                    
9.    · Performs accident investigations and seeks out corrective measures and manages departmental priorities                          
                                    
                                    
                                  
III. Education and Experience                                    
                                    
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field or equivalent experience.  Demonstrated increasing responsibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in the food industry.  5+ years experience in the Quality Assurance field as well as 3 years supervisory experience is desired.
