The Quality Assurance manager assures the compliance to company, customer, regulatory and consumer quality requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager directs the Quality Assurance staff and provides leadership for the site in developing and managing quality systems for the production of food products.. The Quality Assurance Manager will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position is also responsible for food safety and quality procedures in order to maintain a quality and safe product.


  • Ensure the safety of all employees and processing equipment.
  • Manage QA Staff.
  • Oversee, implement, review and develop policies, procedures and systems and processes related to food safety and quality assurance programs which are consistent with company policies and practices.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory policies, directives and notices, and provide effective liaison with government regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee supplier raw material compliance regarding source supply protocol, food safety and quality.
  • Audit and drive improvement of pre-operation and operational SSOP programs, define requirements for master sanitation program and sanitation performance standards, verify corrective actions, etc.
  • Manage, reassess and improve FSMA and HACCP programs. Make necessary modifications to reflect changes in processes and regulations.
  • Responsible for product grading program and identifying product improvements from grading program.
  • Analyze consumer complaint trends and work with other departments to develop plans to reduce consumer complaints.
  • Develop, audit, improve, verify, and validate GMPs, SOPs, specific performance standards, and other pre-requisite programs including pest control, maintenance, vendor letters of guarantee, foreign object management, crisis management and preparedness, food defense, analytical composition evaluation, weights and measures, etc.
  • Establish process and product sampling testing justifications, objectives and standards for product, equipment and plant environment.
  • Responsible for working with all departments to ensure employee training and documentation regarding the principles and practices of FSMA, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, allergens, records, food defense and defined regulatory pre-requisite programs.
  • Knowledgeable in meat and poultry inspection and national organic program regulatory requirements for compliance.
  • Responsible for defining, training and documentation of a statistical process control program and practices to promote productivity, product integrity, quality and safety of products.
  • Work closely with maintenance and production to identify work orders/PM’s that ensure quality and sanitation of the facility.
  • Evaluate new hires, ensure that evaluations are prepared and conducted.
  • Know company policies and enforce them effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations governing employees.
  • Develop and implement leadership development and coaching plans for subordinates.
  • Prepare performance evaluations for subordinates.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Active participant of plant leadership team.
  • Develop quality control systems analyzing production to detect production problems.
  • Ensure food safety and quality are maintained to company standard at all times.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline required.
  • SQF Practitioner Training, preferred.
  • FSMA-PCQI Training, preferred.


  • 10 – 15 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • 5 – 10 years of Quality Assurance experience.


  • Sound management skills with a history of success stories in a leadership role.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Statistics & process control understanding and execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite.


COMPENSATION $70,000 - $75,000
